Job Summary

Responsible for independently managing complex, multi-faceted research agreements. The Grants and Contracts Specialist will serve as an in-house expert responsible for guiding study teams and mentoring staff through the entire research process. Provide comprehensive sponsored project support to principal investigators, study teams, and administrative staff, develop training and educational materials for staff, cultivate relationships with internal staff and external research sponsors; and serve as a liaison to internal department leadership teams to identify and resolve research barriers associated with carrying out research objectives within the system.

Job Duties
  • Independently guides Principal Investigators (PIs), study teams, and department administrative staff in the preparation, submission, review, and management of sponsored project documents.
  • Demonstrates complex analytical and critical thinking skills required to implement complex, multi-faceted research agreements and collaborations.
  • Reviews and negotiates various contracts and agreements with internal and external parties with minimal oversight from manager or designee.
  • Serves as departmental resource for the preparation and review of various documents required for regulatory and system compliance.
  • Assists grant and contracts team members in development of processes associated with database entry and reporting requirements.
  • Autonomously promotes collaboration with study teams and assists with managing timelines related to complex, multi-faceted research agreements and collaborations.
  • Trains grants and contracts staff in review of research documents and day-to-day sponsored project management.
  • Leads development and implementation of training materials and programs for department staff and well as the research enterprise.
  • Serves as a liaison between system and key stakeholders in research; both internal and external.
  • Including providing timely responses via phone and email, tracking progress to ensure timely and accurate process, providing feedback and problem solves to resolve research barriers, and facilitating collaborative relationships with both internal and external research contributors.
  • Provides in-depth comprehension of federal regulations and guidelines of the Department of Health and Human Services, Food and Drug Administration, Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, and the International Conference on Harmonization; and seeks knowledge growth of aforementioned regulations.
