Description

We are searching for a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow with a strong background in cellular neuroscience to work with Dr. Krista Rodgers in the Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy at LSU Health Sciences Center - Shreveport.

Dr. Rodgers’s laboratory is focused on identifying novel therapeutic strategies to provide neuroprotection, neural regeneration, and improve functional recovery in the post-ischemic brain. In vivo and slice electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry, western blot, ELISA, qRT-PCR, RNAseq (sc/bulk), flow cytometry, and neurobehavioral testing are utilized for the interdisciplinary studies performed in our laboratory. This is a unique opportunity to perform in vivo and slice electrophysiology experiments in a translational animal model of human brain ischemia.

Qualifications

  • PhD in neuroscience, or a related field with a good publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Experience with electrophysiology preferred.
  • Experience with microscopy preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The applicant should have experience with techniques in electrophysiology and a good understanding of molecular/cellular biology techniques. Excellent record keeping ability, communication skills, and ability to work independently
  • Research experience that includes electrophysiology is preferred.
  • The successful candidate will be self-motivated, keen to acquire new knowledge and skills and eager to produce scientific publications. The candidate is expected to have strong organizational and record keeping skills to record experimental results and analyze data, as well as, effective written communication skills to publish results.

About the School

  • This job entails in vivo and slice electrophysiology, Western blot, RT-PCR, ELISA, cell culture, immunofluorescence, and/or neurobehavioral testing. Other duties as directed by supervisor.
