The Program Specialist supports students and faculty by managing and maintaining academic technology systems and processes that enhance the learning experience. This position serves as a key liaison between students, faculty, and IT in the use of educational Learning Management Systems, and assists in the development of system integrations between Learning Management Systems and student information systems to streamline academic operations. The Specialist ensures smooth administration of student exams and provides timely technical and operational support for academic programs.
Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position.
Incumbent will maintain a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur that customer satisfaction is met at all times.
Essential Position Functions & Duties
Student LMS Support Responsibilities: 65%
- Learning Management & Educational Technology Support
- Provide frontline support for students and faculty using Learning Management Systems and video capture equipment, and testing software.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to course access, assessments, and content delivery.
- Collaborate with instructional staff to ensure course materials, exams, and recordings are properly set up and functioning.
- Maintain and update user guides, FAQs, and training resources for educational technology platforms.
Exam Administration & Support
- Coordinate and manage student exam logistics, including setup, scheduling, and manage student Learning Management System.
- Ensure exam security, accessibility, and integrity through proper configuration and support during testing sessions.
- Collect and analyze data on exam performance and provide insights to faculty and academic leadership.
- Serve as a resource for students navigating academic technologies and provide one-on-one or group training as needed.
- Collaborate with academic departments to ensure technology aligns with program goals and student needs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for academic support services and technology solutions.
System Integration & Data Management
- Support integration and data flow between Learning Management Systems and student information systems, including course enrollment, grading, and student record synchronization.
- Lead migration for a Learning Management System transition.
- Collaborate with IT and system administrators to test, troubleshoot, and optimize integrations and workflows.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to automate processes that improve efficiency and user experience.
Campus Support
Campus IT Support: 30%
- Provide backup assistance for End-User Support, classroom support and/or instruction to LSUHSC-S Center faculty and staff to operate the audio/visual and videoconferencing equipment as needed.
- Facilitate training on campus IT resources.
- Available on-call outside of normal business hours for emergencies and for scheduled maintenance as needed.
Non-Essential Position Functions & Duties
Marginal Functions: 5%
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
The applicant must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Associate degree in Computer Science or related field and relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expert in Microsoft Office program.
- Five (5) or more years of experience teaching in an accredited academic medical college.
